Employment counsel for small business owners
You built a business. Now you have employees, contracts, and sometimes a former employer who doesn’t want you competing. Sasha spent more than a decade advising and defending employers at firms like Littler Mendelson, Fisher Phillips, and Dentons. He brings that experience to small businesses directly, without the big-firm overhead.
Former employees turned business owners
Starting a business in the same industry as your former employer often draws cease-and-desist letters, noncompete threats, or trade secret claims meant to shut down new competition. Sasha represents founders and small businesses in these disputes. He helps you understand what your agreements actually prohibit, respond to threats, and defend your business in court if it comes to that. The best time to call is before you launch, so you can structure the move to minimize risk.
Services
Employment compliance for small teams: hiring your first employees, offer letters and handbooks, pay practices and overtime, independent contractor classification, accommodation and leave requests, discipline, terminations, and handbooks/policies
Defending claims: EEOC and state agency charges, wage claims, and employment lawsuits
Business disputes: disputes with former employers, vendors, customers, and business partners
Contracts: drafting and negotiating employment agreements, noncompetes, leases, and vendor agreements
Workplace investigations
Sometimes the right answer is an independent investigator. Sasha has conducted hundreds of workplace investigations, including two years in which investigations were his entire practice. He also conducted investigations as part of pre-litigation and litigation work for more than a decade. He handles complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and misconduct, including complaints involving owners and senior leaders. Every investigation delivers a fair process and a clear, well-documented report with findings.
Investigations are available to employers and, in appropriate cases, to employees or other parties who need a neutral fact-finder.
